Our Story

Forming Our Vision
It was not just her name - Kiran Ma, she truly was ray of light. On 15th June 2015 the most extraordinary life we witnessed came to an end but her enduring hope, deep compassion and unwavering resilience lived on. Her vision, thoughts and actions manifested a year later and Kiran Foundation was born on 15th June 2016.

Our First Students
The first batch of 10 talented students joined Kiran Pratibha Scholarship from small towns and villages of India. After going through the rigorous selection process, they were admitted wholeheartedly into Kiran Foundation family, with full commitment for their holistic development and complete support for unique needs they had to be the best they can be.

Building Shakti
We believe that confident and empowered women are essential for a strong and resilient society. Unfortunately, vitality of women as a catalyst for change is grossly underestimated.
Kiran Shakti Program was launched to empower Indian women (especially homemakers) via life skills training in their native language. The success of our first course "Everyday law for Women" laid the foundation for Shakti Program.

Our First Graduates
Among the first graduates of the Kiran Pratibha Scholarship were Keshu and Shreya. Both of them graduated with top ranks in Engineering and got job offers through campus placements. They continued to be part of the Kiran Foundation team, supporting our vision of building merit-based society.

Volunteer-led Growth
The word about Kiran Foundation spread and many volunteers and interns not just from India but also from US and Europe joined us. Our volunteers are the backbone of Kiran Foundation and shape forefront the future through their tireless efforts and selfless service.

Nationwide Reach
One of 2024’s defining moments was welcoming twelve exceptionally talented students into the Kiran Pratibha Program. These young individuals, from 11 districts across 8 states, have extended Kiran Foundation's reach nationwide.

Year of Inspiration
Our continuous efforts have been recognized and Kiran Foundation received Compliance 80G, 12A and CSR. This milestone couldn’t have been achieved without the efforts, diligent and meticulous work by our team.

What Next?
While we celebrate our achievements, we must not forget that we are not able to support many equally talented students. Many dreams get crushed due to harsh realities of life.
India has about 125 million youth who are in their formative years of life (14-20 years of age) across 787 districts; to put it in perspective, this is about double the population of the entire United Kingdom. We are setting a modest goal of supporting about 10 students from every district; a total of 7,870, which is about 0.06 percent of eligible youth.
If we can transform the lives and hopes of these students in every corner of India, it will bring a new ray of hope and brighten up the entire country; it will transform India, district by district.
Our Mission and Vision

‘’As we grow we must not compromise on the quality and personalized attention we give to every student. That is our strength and our character and we shall strive to preserve it. Keeping character while scaling requires compassion, conviction and resources.’’

Partner for Progress
We are looking for persuasive fundraisers, open-source programmers, outstanding mentors, empathetic trainers to bring our vision to life. Our goals are to raise funds, build local chapters, and develop technology solutions for nationwide transformation.
If you cannot do any of the above, we also need supporters and believers in our visions to empower socially, physically and financially disadvantaged sections of society and provide wings to their dreams.
May we create a truly merit-based society where every individual, regardless of their background, has the opportunity to thrive based on their abilities, efforts, and potential.
